The PiLA Team is happy to report that all of our 2019-2020 PiLA Fellows have started their fellowship adventures!
Yearlong placements began between late June and early September and cover an impressive range of roles and partner organizations. We have Fellows working in grantwriting and fundraising, assisting doctors in community clinics, coordinating service learning projects for high school students, working on a farm and helping with the organic certification process, and more! Some Fellows have been able to meet and form relationships with former PiLA Fellows that still live and work in the countries where they completed a Junior Fellowship – the PiLA network in action!
We have many Fellows working in Guatemala this year. A group of them recently traveled from their different locations to meet up in Quetzaltenango (often referred to by its much shorter nickname, Xela - pronounced “shay-la”) for a well-deserved break and to celebrate Guatemalan Independence Day.
