To the PiLA Community:
We are happy to announce that Princeton in Latin America (PiLA), after a period of dormancy due to the global pandemic, is planning to reopen its doors to continue its mission to provide recent college graduates with service experiences in Latin America and the Caribbean, and to advance the socioeconomic development objectives of partner organizations throughout the region. We hope to count on your continued support at this important time for our organization.
We feel that circumstances in the region have improved sufficiently for us to begin a gradual return to operations with the placement of a modest number of fellows in 2024-2025. We will therefore begin to accept applications in September of 2023, with the prospect of matching the interests and capacities of the finalists (including some of those deferred from a previous application process) with the needs and requirements of interested partner organizations in the early months of 2024. Our objective is to finalize the matching process by April 2024 so that fellows may begin their valuable work in the field in the summer of 2024, with fellowships expected to run for nine to twelve months.
Depending upon the success of the 2024-2025 program, and other circumstances, we hope that this relaunch will result in a return to a full level of annual fellowships.
